Biography of Dr. John W. Brady, JR.
Dr. Brady is the son of hard-working parents who owned a small grocery store in Washington, D.C. During his teen years and even while in medical school, he worked in the family business.
He attended public schools in Silver Spring, Maryland, graduating from Montgomery Blair High School. He attended Marietta College in Ohio and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.
He went to medical school at George Washington University and completed an internship in Internal Medicine at West Virginia University. Dr. Brady was then honored to serve as a general medical officer in the United States Navy for 2 years. He served with the Gold Crew on the USS John Adams, a Polaris-class nuclear submarine.
After his military service, Dr. Brady returned to West Virginia University to start a residency in Internal Medicine, where he also met his wife Ann. They relocated to Richmond where he completed his residency in Dermatology at the Medical College of Virginia. He was honored to stay as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology for two and a half years.
He practiced in Elkins, West Virginia and Warren, Ohio for a short time before settling in Manassas, Virginia in 1977. He has distinguished himself in the medical community as being one of the Top Docs in Washingtonian Magazine.
John and Ann Brady are the parents of 3 children. Their first son, Will is deceased from leukemia in 1981. Katie, a George Mason University graduate who also carries a Master's Degree in education from George Washington Univeristy is now an ESOL educator in Loudoun County. David, a University of Mary Washington graduate and certified radiology technologist, is now a Magnetic Resonance Imaging technologist with Fairfax Radiology Consultants.
The Bradys are members of the Manassas Church of Christ. In addition to his love for God, family, and medicine, his other interests include the Washington Redskins, steam trains, and gardening.
